Caprylic/capric triglyceride is an emollient made from glycerin and caprylic and capric fatty acids, commonly sourced from plant oils.
It is used extensively in skincare because it is lightweight, stable and spreads easily. On the skin it provides slip and softness without the heavier feel of many plant oils.
Within a formulation it can also act as a carrier or solvent for oil-soluble ingredients and helps improve the overall sensory feel of the finished product.
