Bakuchiol is a plant-derived cosmetic active originally isolated from Psoralea corylifolia (babchi). It has antioxidant properties and has been studied for its effects on visible signs of skin ageing.
Clinical research suggests that regular topical use can improve the appearance of fine lines, pigmentation and overall skin texture. Bakuchiol is chemically distinct from retinoids and works through different mechanisms, although some of its visible effects have been compared with retinol in clinical research.
